Unofficial report of commission meeting

 

Called to order: 6:00 PM

Present: Chairperson Natalie Kirbo, Mary Miller, Rhonda Kendrick and Allyson Whittaker

Absent: Jenny Livingston, Clayton Penhallegon and Joe Sweet Jr.

Business Items:

Approved Certificate of Appropriateness 2020-0222 to demolish property at 523 N. Broad Street and replace with a metal building.

Approved Certificate of Appropriateness 2021-001 to make exterior changes including opening up windows and replacing awnings to property located at 200 S. Broad Street.

Denied Certificate of Appropriateness 2020-028 for a chain link fence for property located at 404 S. Monroe Street.

Voted to remove Joe Sweet Jr from Historic Preservation Commission due to absenteeism as described in the Rules and Procedures Guidelines:

                A.            ATTENDANCE AT MEETINGS:  It shall be the duty of all Historic Preservation Commission members to inform the Community Development Division of any anticipated absence and notification shall be immediately after receipt of the agenda.  A regular member who misses three (3) consecutive regular meetings in a calendar year, and should there be no adequate excuse for such absence, the Chairperson, with the concurrence of a majority of the entire Commission, shall recommend to the local governing board (city council), that a vacancy be declared and that the vacated position be filled.   Absences due to sickness, death, or other emergencies of like nature shall be regarded as approved absences and shall not affect the member’s status on the Commission; except that in the event of a long illness or other such case for prolonged absence the member may be replaced.
