Message from City Manager Chris Hobby:

We are pleased to announce this morning that we have offered the position of Police Chief to Redell Walton and he has accepted. Chief Walton will officially begin work at Bainbridge Public Safety on July 6.

Chief Walton has over 30 years of law enforcement experience. Chief Walton began his career in 1990 as a Bainbridge Public Safety Officer spending 4 years with the city before moving to the Decatur County Sheriff’s office in 1994. During his career, Chief Walton has served as a patrol officer, a Deputy Sheriff, a School Resource Officer, a Sheriff’s Investigator and as Chief of the Grady County School System Police. We are confident that these years of experience in varying law enforcement roles will serve to make Chief Walton a valuable addition to Bainbridge Public Safety.

In this new role, Chief Walton will oversee all police functions within the Bainbridge Public Safety Department. Deputy Director Frank Green will continue to oversee all department functions in support of Director Jerry Carter.

Please join us in welcoming Chief Redell Walton to our Public Safety family.
