The City Manager reports to the City Council and is responsible for the operation of city government.

Chris Hobby is the City Manager of the City of Bainbridge. Hobby has served in this role since January 2003. Prior to his appointment as City Manager, Chris served the city as Assistant City Manager coming to Bainbridge after a 5-year tenure as City Manager of the City of Colquitt. Before beginning his career in local government administration Chris worked for the Wal-Mart corporation at stores in Georgia, Delaware and Maine.

Chris is a native of Milledgeville where he graduated from Georgia Military College Prep School and Georgia College and State University where he received his Bachelor of Science Degree in Political Science. After his time with Wal-Mart; Chris attended Kennesaw State University earning a Masters Degree in Public Administration.

Chris is married to the former Anne Smith of Sandersville and has two children, Sarah and Michael.

The City Manager's Executive Assistant, Allie Godwin, also acts as the City Clerk. Allie can be contacted for information pertaining to Ordinances, Resolutions, City Council Agendas & Minutes, Municipal Code, Elections, Open Records, Authorities, Boards, Commissions, and Advisory Committees. Allie is also the official custodian of the city seal to be affixed to legal documents upon request, and provide notary public services for city legal requirements, contracts, and agreements.

Roy Oliver

Roy Oliver is the Assistant City Manager for the City of Bainbridge. Oliver has served in this role since September of 2012. During that time as Assistant City Manager, Oliver also operated as Community & Economic Development Director, where he managed the planning department, including building, code enforcement, animal control, parks, and all leisure services operations.  Mr. Oliver oversees capital improvement projects and undertakes a variety of special projects for the City Manager and assists the City Manager with the direction and coordination of the activities of all City departments. Oliver also facilitates interdepartmental cooperation and sharing of resources; provides responsible staff assistance to the City Manager, City Council, and department heads; and serves as acting City Manager as required.

Before beginning his career in local government administration in 2012, Roy worked for the Wal-Mart corporation for 25 years in various management positions throughout Georgia and as Store Manager in Bainbridge from 2007 to 2012.

Roy is a native of Camilla and graduated from Mitchell-Baker High School and Valdosta State University where he received his Bachelor of Science Degree in Criminal Justice.

Roy is married to his wife Pam who teaches 5th Grade at Hutto Elementary School, they live in Bainbridge with their 4 daughters Sara, Raidyn, Allison, and Lainee.
