Office of Professional Standards and Training
The Office of Professional Standards & Training is managed by Captain Ryan Wimberley, who has been employed with Bainbridge Public Safety since April of 1996.
Administration
The Office of Professional Standards & Training is primarily responsible for the research, drafting, and implementation of departmental policy and procedures. This office also manages the day-to-day administrative functions of the Bainbridge Public Safety Department including Records Management, Court Services, and the internal investigations of misconduct by its officers and employees.
Training
Members of Bainbridge Public Safety are dual certified as both law enforcement officers and firefighters. As such, the Office of Professional Standards & Training is responsible for coordinating and managing all in-service and advanced training in both law enforcement and firefighting services. Officers are required to obtain a minimum of 44 hours a year of training in both of these services. Training includes but is not limited to firearms, use of force, pump and ladder operations, hazardous material awareness, DUI enforcement, and crash victim extrication.
Bainbridge Public Safety also actively participates in various other community relations functions to include safety presentations and career days for both schools and businesses.

Compliment and Complaints
It is the policy of Bainbridge Public Safety to foster confidence from the citizens of Bainbridge and to maintain high professional standards.
We welcome compliments and encourage the filing of legitimate complaints of misconduct or poor performance against the agency or its employees. However, investigation of complaints and prosecution of criminal cases are two separate matters. If a person arrested by a BPS officers files a citizen's complaint against the arresting officer, then such action will not affect the prosecution of the criminal case. Complaints, concerning guilt or innocence will only be decided by the court.
Anonymous complaints will be accepted. However, anonymous complaints can be difficult to substantiate, as the complainant is unavailable for re-interview. Citizens offering anonymous complaints are advised that the agency’s ability to investigate the complaint may be limited by their anonymity.
Please be aware, knowingly and willfully making a false statement may result in prosecution for a felony as provided for in Official Code of Georgia Annotated Section 16-10-20.
