We’ve been notified by Georgia Power that crews will soon be in our area to help improve the safety and reliability of the local energy grid.
One of the main causes of power outages? Trees and limbs touching power lines.
To prevent this, Georgia Power’s contractor will be trimming—and in some cases, removing—trees that are too close to lines or within right-of-ways.
This work is performed by professional utility arborists and specialized contractors to ensure safety and quality.
If any work is needed on your property, you’ll be contacted directly.
For questions or concerns, reach out to Georgia Power’s Customer Support Team:

Thank you for your understanding as these improvements help keep our power more reliable and our neighborhoods safer!

In March, Bainbridge Public Safety launched a new initiative: “Hydrant Heroes: Keeping Bainbridge Safe, One Flow at a Time.”
This program focuses on making sure all our community’s fire hydrants are up to NFPA standards—without breaking the budget. As part of this project, you have started seeing yellow-painted hydrants around town. Wondering what that means?
➡️ Yellow hydrants = hydrant height between 7–12 inches
➡️ There are currently 179 of them across Bainbridge
This is just the beginning! The goal is to make sure our hydrants are always:
✅ Fully operational
✅ Easy to access
✅ Clearly identified in emergencies
Thanks for supporting public safety as we roll out this important project!

🌟 Spotlight on Service 🌟
Bainbridge Public Safety officers and investigators have been showing up in a big way for our community over the past week!
They kicked things off last Saturday by volunteering at the Oak House's Color War at the Boat Basin, followed by lending a hand Thursday at the delicious Chicken Plate Fundraiser — both events held in honor of Child Abuse Awareness Month.
To wrap up the week, they joined the fun at the Recreation Authority’s Annual Easter Egg Hunt at Bill Reynolds Sports Complex, volunteering their time and offering fingerprint kits for families.
We’re so grateful for their dedication both on and off the clock. Thank you for keeping our community safe — and connected!

The Water Department is repairing a leak on Boxwood Dr. and will have Longleaf Drive to Willis St. closed and it may affect those areas for outages while they repair the leak.
We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.

The NE1 Zone is now OPEN for Bainbridge Fiber hookups!
If you’re in parts of Hall, Potter, E. Evans, E. Sharpe, or another portion of Shotwell Street — you’re in luck! High-speed internet is now available in your area.

At the City Council meeting this week, Mayor Edward Reynolds recognized April as Donate Life Month with a proclamation presented to June Faircloth. After the reading and ceremonial photo-op, June graciously thanked Council for their years of support—and the many lives changed thanks to organ donation.

That powerful penny has been putting in work!
Over the last several days, your T-SPLOST penny has been busy milling and resurfacing Elizabeth and Culbreth Streets. Just a little reminder of how far one cent can go!

City Council will hold their regularly scheduled monthly meeting tonight at 6:30 PM at City Hall. You can find the agenda for the meeting on our website here: https://tinyurl.com/yc78a8fy

Spotlight on Service:
Fire Chief Doyle Welch volunteered to be a part of the Decatur County Historical Society's Living History Tour in Oak City Cemetery yesterday evening, portraying James Edward Dickinson.
Fun Fact: Doyle has a deep passion for local history and plays an active role in preserving our historic cemeteries.
Thanks, Doyle, for helping tell Bainbridge's history in an engaging and fun way!

The City of Bainbridge Water Department will be replacing a fire hydrant on Wheat Avenue Monday, April 14. In order to complete the work, they will need to close one lane of Wheat Avenue between Water Street and Martin Luther King Jr Drive. Please use caution if in the area.

The powerful TSPLOST penny is back at work today!
Crews are milling Wheat Avenue from Shotwell Street to Martin Luther King Jr. Drive in preparation for resurfacing. Wherever you see our sign, know that your penny is making a difference.
What is milling?
It removes the top layer of worn-out or damaged asphalt, which may include cracks, potholes, and surface irregularities. By eliminating these surface defects, asphalt milling provides a clean and even base for the application of a new asphalt layer.

Distracted Driving:
Takes your eyes off of the road, your hands off of the wheel and your mind off of driving

Last week, Mayor Pro Tem Roslyn Palmer read a powerful proclamation recognizing April as Child Abuse Awareness Month during a service at the Courthouse. 💙
We are deeply appreciative of the Oak House, law enforcement, and all the agencies dedicated to protecting our children and raising awareness for such an important cause.
Together, we can make a difference.

Yesterday, Mayor Edward Reynolds was asked to welcome a large group to celebrate the ribbon cutting of Bainbridge High School's state-of-the-art Performing Arts Center!
This facility marks the culmination of years of planning and hard work, and we can't wait to see how it inspires current and future students to showcase their incredible talents.
Here's to a bright future of creativity and excellence!
